I’m joining my awesome photography friends in another blog circle of the Our Life is Here series, we chose the color pink for February.
This month Colten and his fellow teammates made it to All-State where they were awarded by the Iowa High School Speech Assoc. for Group Improv. To make it to All-State the group had to present their Improv at Districts, then we went to Sioux City for State. It took about a week to find out they would be awarded to All-State. This year the awards ceremony was at Iowa State University, but it changes every year. As soon as I walked into the Scheeman Building I knew I wanted to take advantage of the amazing light for some photos.
I finally purchased the new lens I’ve been wanting for a long time, the Canon 24-70 f/2.8. I’m in love with the versatility of this lens, I used it to take the above photo of Colten and the cupcakes. When we were at the awards ceremony for speech it even did a great job taking a photo of his teammate as she walked across the stage even though we were a long ways away. This will for sure be the lens that stays on my camera most of the time.
Lizzie enjoyed making Valentine’s gifts for her friends. I think she found this idea on Pinterest- so many great projects there. For these I used my Macro filters, similar to these, on my 50mm lens.
I love seeing all of the colorful flowers at Valentine’s, I know spring is just around the corner. I experimented with my macro filters and 50mm on these also.
Now that my little girl is not so little anymore I had a hard time finding pink things to take photos of. These M&Ms are also macro shots, I loved the way they turned out because the M&Ms seem larger than life in these photos.
Every month it’s so fun to see what everybody shares next in the circle is my good friend Seija Kenn, click here to continue the blog circle.
